Links a la mode.

Helloo.
Okay, first thing is that my braces are finally off. Two years of extreme pain and urge to break apart my teeth is over for good. I feel absolutely brilliant. And numb. I can actually smile at my reflection without getting conscious.Phew. Also,I made the cut for Links a la mode. Best week everr!

Well,I am currently overly caught up in school programmes. Have a show coming up where I have to a traditional dance of India. Also, loaded in books with tests piling up. And to make it worse,I have this thigh pain refusuing to leave. It's all because of that dancing and I look like a paralyzed robot. Sigh. Such is life. By the way,Tom Ford's 2012 collection is out. This is what he had to say,"Blouses with a loose, slouchy quality; something fitted at the waist, and with a bondage-y thing on the foot—my favorite is the wedge with the chain-strap!” He also says a lot of his inspiration came from New Mexico, where he shares a home with his partner. And that a pantsuit will be featured in the ad campaign." Some said his collection was bit YSL,like his last collection too but he said "I’ve streamlined things more this season. I think I’m very classic, because what I do is always based on something you’ve seen before. And yes, maybe there’s something YSL about it. When I left off designing for women, I was at YSL so I’m working through that to be me, asking myself, What do I like? What defines your brand?" Next February is the next stop! Check out Vogue.com for further information.
And Versace for H&M is in stores. Rush to the mall.Now.And buy me things.Hehe.

"Now everybody knows Victoria's Secret"

We all are fully aware of the long-awaited Victoria's Secret annual show which was absolutely terrific, like always. There were wings covering the entire runway, Izabel Goulart carring crazy umbrellas and more 'crazymazing' [credits for novelty-fashionista] outfits. There were some performances by Jay Z and Kanye West, while Beyonce cheered up you-know-who [No HP fans, not Tom Riddle/Voldermort/Dark Lord/Death Eater]. Some eyecatchers were Adriana Lima wearing an outfit saying INCREDIBLE, Liu Wen looking excessively skinny, Chanel Iman looking skinnier than Liu Wen and Alessandra Ambrosio walking with notable finesse. Other Angels were Izabel Goulart, Miranda Kerr, Candice Swanepoel, Lily Aldridge.

This was the 16th year, and along with new outfits, we also saw a new face- Karlie Kloss. Even while carrying 30 pounds on her back, she looked gorgeous and flawless, like when she wore the Anthony Vacarello dress. [Wow,right?]. When asked about it, she simply said that she had an enjoyable time and not much pressure other than the usual. She consulted Chanel Iman and she advised to not get too tense. Kloss being 19 and a former ballet dancer already has her body under shape but she did hire a trainer six months before the show. When asked about that, she says she doesn't know why she did that. Perhaps being safe. Talking about diets, some of them told Fashionista what they do to keep shape. You would be surprised, there could be nothing simpler. You would think they starve for weeks but will you be shocked or what?
Alessandra Ambrosio:  Says she’ll have to start lifting weights to strengthen her back and shoulders in order to wear her 30-pound “wings”.
Chanel Iman: Focusing on gaining weight for the show and had already gained 15 pounds last week. This involves protein shakes, weight lifting and a big potluck the day before the show. [Huh?] Wait,I forgot. She posed her bare bum too.
Adriana Lima: Working out every day with a personal trainer since August. For the last three weeks, she’s been working out twice a day. She also has a really complicated water drinking/solid food-abstaining regimen that’s been shocking everyone. Lima drinks a gallon of water a day. For nine days before the show, she will drink only protein shakes – “no solids”. The concoctions include powdered egg. Two days before the show, she will abstain from the daily gallon of water, and “just drink normally”. Then, 12 hours before the show, she will stop drinking entirely. “No liquids at all so you dry out, sometimes you can lose up to eight pounds just from that,” she says. [Maybe you weren't totally wrong].
Erin Heatherton: She works out all year and pays her trainer in advance to motivate herself.
Candice Swanepoel: She has trouble keeping weight on, saying, “I try to eat a lot of protein and steak. I burn up my energy so fast that I have to eat a lot. It gets to that point where I’m like, ‘OK, one more bite.’”

So this was it.Now it is upto you to figure out Victoria's Secret. By the way,the title of the post is a line from John Tucker Must Die. I've seen that movie about a million times and can submit an essay containing a play-by-play. But more than that, I've been hooked on to Pretty Little Liars which is currently on another break so I'm up for Gossip Girl. Finally going to start and will finally not feel lost amongst those Blair Vs. Serena arguments. Plus,I get to see Chuck Bass. And Nate.Oh,Nate. Also looking forward to seeing a couple of movies, including Breaking Dawn and maybe, just maybe rent out A Cinderella Story: Once upon a Song and this one Indian movie my friend is starring in. But have to wait all week. But the best news of all is that my braces are finally coming off after two years. I couldn't be happier. Good times.

Arushi Khosla:Bohemian Like you

Arushi Khosla- a fashion blogger since three years and a phenomenon. She has contributed to big names like Vogue INDIA, Haute Mini International and written for tons of websites. Has been featured in MTV, Haute Mimi,Grazia, The Budget Fashionista, The Indian Express and more. She has also been featured in a book 'Style Yourself: Inspirational advice from the world's hottest fashion bloggers' plus is an on and off Fashion PR intern .All this-at just 16! Need I say more?
Clearly, she's going to make it big. Very big.Her blog 'Bohemian Like You' [former name-Fab Blab],is doing exceptionally well and I'm sure we can expect great things from her. She has the most amazing collection of shoes heels imaginable. [Yep,that's an interesting fact about her, she's always strutting around in heels and doesn't feel a pinch]. On her blog, her writing is notably impressive and her outfit posts make you drool. Arushi Khosla has been an inspiration for many such as myself. Fortunately, I've known her a few years and had a chance to interview her for all my awesome readers (that's you). Later, some of her pictures,I like the most.

1. What are your strengths and weaknesses?
Strength-Probably determination.
Weakness-procrastination.

2. If not PR,what field of fashion would you be in?
I'm actually not interested in PR but more along the lines of marketing, branding, media planning and such. I tried my hand at PR internships because as a high school kid, marketing internships are impossible to do without getting credit. Plus all the various facets of the industry are completely interlinked. Any experience is an inside look, any experience is pertinent.

3. You were just 16 when you contributed to Vogue INDIA.How did you balance that with the daily workload?
Vogue was a super fun - I'm actually heinously nocturnal so staying up at night is no problem for me. Plus if its fun then its not really work.

4. Who are your favourite designers?
Haider Ackermann, Mary Katranzou, Rick Owens, Acne, Olivier Theyskens, Riccardo Tisci, Nicholas Ghesquiere.

5. According to you, what has been your biggest achievement so far?
Maybe my internship in the CFDA Incubator this past summer.

6. Three all time must-haves for everybody's wardrobe.

A slouchy and/or fitted black blazer, preferably with a long but lean silhouette.
A pair of suede/ponyhair ankle boots.
A great quality, supple but potentially distressed leather jacket.

7. What advice would you like to give to our readers who want to pave their way into this industry?

Its a competitive industry so you have to be aggressive and push for everything you want. Do as many internships as you can, its the best way to get experience and to beef up your resume. In the beginning, any kind of experience is good experience. Network, network, network. You never know where the next opportunity is going to come from. Also, do your homework. Research designers, photographers, editors, models, PR people, VPs. Read WWD, WSJ, NyMag, Fashionista, NYT, the Guardian, the Telegraph. Be on top of your game on social media platforms. You can never be too involved.

Tropic of Capricorn.

Capricorns can be summed up in two words- practical & sensible. Being a Capricorn,I am supposed to possess these two traits, which I possibly do.Capricorn, being an earth sign has a symbol of a goat. Down to earth, hardworking and a bit of pessimism is also there.
Being brutally honest, pessimism is definitely true. Not only in my sign but most of the earth signs.I know so many pessimistic people,it isn't even funny.Hardworking is a key part of my personality because I believe in climbing up the hill with determination, not aggression.
Confidence defines me,overconfidence never will. Those two words have a very minimal difference actually. "I can do it" is my confidence. "Only I can do it" is my overconfidence.Capricorns are also supposed to be related to detailing. True that, I spend most of my money, time and energy on accessories.I prefer buying shoes, bags and jewellery of good quality rather than clothes.

Although, logically,I do not really believe in zodiac signs because frankly, stars and planets cannot decide whether I'm going to land up in a hospital in the next five minutes or not BUT certain instances have happened with me that have forced me to rethink.
My horoscope is almost always right.I apparently do have most of the traits of a Capricorn. And my blog does reflect that.
Capricorns usually keep things simple-black and white with maybe a peek of color. Take up creative things like fashion, photography or art.And they also prefer using layman language rather than too-cool-for-anybody-to-understand. All this basically sums up to Manvi Mittal and LABELS & LOVE!
So,I find myself constantly drawn towards horoscope pages in magazines and newspapers.Wear the same coloured t-shirt that is supposed to be my lucky colour.Follow it RELIGIOUSLY. I'm a freak or what? [go with what].But horoscopes are not always accurate so I wouldn't suggest depending on it though it doesn't hurt.

That's it for now.
An interview coming right up.
